Full Proposal Instructions

After being asked to submit a full proposal, you will be informed of the deadline for submission.  A site visit may also be scheduled.  Note that our proposal format is slightly different than others so please be sure to answer all of the questions; a well organized, concise proposal is appreciated.  Do not be tempted to send additional materials; they will not be read and we do not want to waste your resources.

We encourage you to submit your proposal narrative and as many required attachments as possible electronically. Please contact us for Brico’s proposal email address. Any documents not sent electronically must arrive in our office by the deadline.

Please tailor your proposal to demonstrate how your request addresses systemic change and limit your proposal to five pages.  Do not assume we understand your vision or are able to articulate it on your behalf.  Use one inch margins and 12 point type.  Due to the volume of proposals we receive, we cannot process incomplete applications.  Proposals that inadequately address these questions will be returned for completion and may be considered at our next funding cycle.  With your proposal please include the following information using a separate section heading, as outlined below, for each of the following:

  • Organization Information  Give us a brief overview of your organization.

  • Program Description  Define the root problem you are trying to address.  In your preliminary application, you indicated the three qualitative goals you want to accomplish.  Specifically, how do you plan to do that?

Qualitatively, how will you define success or progress as the project/program progresses?  Do you perceive that this project/program is short term or long term?  Why?  What are your short-term indicators of progress (12 months)?  Long-term (if applicable)?

If you have collaborative partners, what do they bring to the table?  Tell us how this program complements similar or related programming in the community.

  • Role of women and girls  To what extent do women play a leadership role on the board and among key staff?  If it is a girls program, explain how women and girls are involved in the leadership of the program.  How are those roles determined?

  • Future Viability   How does the project fit into your long-range plan?  Is it short term or designed to be ongoing?  To what extent will it have a broader impact than within your own organization?  How will you share what you learn with other organizations that might benefit?

  • Funding Considerations   How does your Brico Fund request fit into a total fund raising plan for this project/program?  List funding sources with amounts already secured, and additional anticipated sources and amounts of support.  Because Brico expects the programs and organizations it funds to become sustainable, explain the funding plan for program continuation after this granting year.

Has each of your Board members and senior staff made a financial contribution to the organization in this fiscal year?  If no, why not?

Please submit the following additional information which is required before we can process your request.

  • Organizational Assessment (download here)

  • Current organization Annual Budget identifying anticipated revenue sources

  • Project Budget (if applicable)

  • Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) – current and most recent fiscal year-end

  • Cash Flow Statement

  • Year-to-date Statement of Activities (Profit and Loss Statement)

  • Most recent audit including management letter and auditor’s notes (if no notes, please indicate)
