What We Care About

The Brico Fund is interested in projects or programs that foster civic engagement and participatory democracy, create access to government for citizens of diverse backgrounds, and/or help individuals underrepresented on community issues to develop a stronger voice. Organizations or efforts that both celebrate the legacies of those who have worked to create equity and encourage emerging social justice work, change perceptions and engender dialogue about issues of relevance to communities, or develop efforts for community development will receive serious consideration.  The Brico Fund acknowledges that private enterprise and government are both essential to make the economy work for everyone.

Organizations working on the following will be considered for support by the Brico Fund’s Democracy Investment Area:

  1. Community development by geography, by demography, and by issue (especially integration of all three)
  2. Work on issues and policies to increase the level of civic engagement, leading to change
  3. Increasing progressive resiliency by building the “bench” of prospective progressive leadership
  4. Convening organizations and making technology resources available
